HAVE A BLAST AT UVA SUMMER 2013!

Check out this FREE opportunity to interact with other students from Virginia who are interested in the excitement of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)!
 

BLAST will offer a dynamic three-day residential summer experience on the campus of the University of Virginia (UVA) in the summer of 2013. The Virginia Space Grant Consortium (VSGC) in partnership with UVA and the Commonwealth of Virginia, will offer this FREE experience to current 8th and 9th grade high school students from Southwest Virginia, Southern Piedmont, Charlottesville, and Greater Richmond areas.  (Specific counties are listed here.)

Through innovative hands-on experiences taught by UVA faculty members and staff, students will explore the fun and excitement of STEM while residing on a renowned university campus. BLAST is geared to students who may have an interest in STEM or an underlying aptitude for STEM academics, but have not yet discovered the excitement of STEM. Students will have an opportunity to choose Session I: July 7-10, 2013, or Session II: July 28-31, 2013.

  • Mechatronics/rapid prototyping
  • RaPower Solar Car Unit
  • Environmental Issues (Save the Penguins)
  • Astronomy Activities
  • Marine/ocean/undersea science and engineering
